- Heads –
There are always two sides to a coin and where it lands determines the future.
The joke was always on him because he cracked all the jokes. He was considered carefree.
He had the ability to laugh at himself and this endeared him to his circle of friends.
Success brought confidence and confidence brought laughter. It was not that he had a stand-up routine, that was beneath him. He just added an aside in the conversation, usually barbed, at someone’s else’s expense.
It is easy to laugh at others. It is easier to laugh at oneself.
They all wanted to include him, include his wit, his personality, his company. Hugh was always the centre of attention because he was on the back foot. He regularly said something that was witty and paced. Hugh was renowned for his wit, for being whimsical.
Everyone loved Hugh.

It was a silly mistake. The hospital said they would support him.
Who would support her family he wondered?
Hugh had been cleared of any implications of misconduct or wrong-doing. So, things went on as normal.
Everyone continued laughing.

He knew where to draw the line and he knew he had crossed it.
He left the hospital and sat with his head between his knees. This brought blood to the brain. It was a stimulus he knew. Hugh was a doctor. Hugh had an enormous brain which had entertained many over many years.
He also had a whimsical brain that people loved. His chat was the talk of many in his circle. Always entertaining, always witty. That was how he would be remembered.
Remembrance.
